Jeffrey Rose

Biplane Air Racing Class Secretary

Jeff, a dentist by trade, got his start in aviation when he saw the convenience and adventure afforded by flying between dental practices in Sacramento and Palm Springs. He completed his private pilot and soon after added instrument, commercial and multi-engine ratings. His appreciation for utility quickly blossomed into passion and the allure of tailwheel flying drew him in. The Rio Linda Airport community has a long history of staffing the fuel truck at Reno so he had a deep appreciation for the legacy of aviation achievement there, and the supportive cast of homebuilders in that circle encouraged him to go deeper . A ride in a Christen Eagle sparked his imagination and before long he acquired his first biplane racer.

PRS in 2013 led to a decade of Reno biplane racing including earning the coveted NCAR Biplane Gold Championship in 2016 in #23, Reno Rabbit. Jeff’s love of biplanes, racing and homebuilding led to mentorship and sponsorship of a number of biplane rookies after him and he remains committed to fostering the growth of the class. Leveraging his passion for craftsmanship, creativity and the extended network of homebuilding expertise in the Rio Linda orbit, Jeff has undertaken development of Element 6 – a professionally-designed, scratch-built carbon fiber Pitts derivative that promises to challenge the accomplishments of the fastest biplanes in pylon racing history. None of Jeff’s flying or homebuilding would be possible without the support of his loving wife Heidi and daughter Campbell.
